Mixing Reggaeton and pop was released in 2017 by Puerto Rican singer Luis Fonsi and Daddy Yankee. The track became the most-streamed at that time within 6 months. Billboard's Top 100 featured two songs in Spanish generally, and four tracks in the year 2016. In the height of Despacito's success in 2017, 19 tracks primarily made in Spanish reached the top 100. This number rose to 41 in 2020. Justin Bieber re-mixed Despacito with an English version in the year 2017. In the year following, the most well-known artists began collaborating with reggaeton artists. Drake teamed with Bad Bunny to create MIA (2018) and Madonna was a part of Medellin along with Maluma (2019). In 2020, a few Reggaeton performers were expressing displeasure about the advancing of their genre to the mainstream. However, a younger generation such as Rauw Alejandro was keen to continue the evolution. The incorporation of elements from electronic dance music, and different styles was an accepted method.
